Purchase College School of the Arts invites ICC Greenwich to a Veena Workshop and Performance by instrumentalist Saraswathi Rajagopalan accompanied by mridangam player Kumar Kanthan.

The veena, a stringed instrument from South India similar to the lute, is considered the queen of Indian musical instruments — the quintessential symbol of the spiritual traditions of India – an acoustic vehicle for spiritual voyaging.

Saraswati Rajagopalan is one of the leading Veena artists of Karnatic music today. Hailing from a Tamil musical family from South India, she has performed solo since the age of 12.

Kumar Kanthan began learning mridangam at the age of 8 and received advanced training from the living legend, Guru Kaaraikudi R. Mani. Both artists perform in the US and internationally.

* Purchase College is off Route 120/A King Street and readily accessible from Glenville Road, the Merritt Parkway and 287
